Don't Be Basic: Have Basics

4 Basics Iteams You Must Have!

Your closet has seen its fair share of trends come and go. Some trends graduate into wardrobe essentials, but the basics that perfectly worn in white tee, your favorite jeans, and go to black pumps are forever. You can rest assured these key pieces will never go out of style or lose their street chic appeal. Simply put, they’re the building blocks of a perfect wardrobe. Basic pieces not basic outfits. Scroll down to see looks of different outfits all using some of my favorite BASICS.

White Button Down Blouse

Are you a proud owner of white button down blouses? Do you love wearing a white button down and consider it your most favorite piece of clothing in your closet? You should be, because white button downs are described as simple-styled blouses. Yet, despite their simple look, these blouses never go out of fashion. They always manage to make a fashionable look no matter what the occasion is. A white button down is also neat-looking due to its white color. The Button down is a versatile piece. They can be used no matter what the occasion is, whether it’s a casual gathering, formal gathering, or for work. There are so many different ways to style yourself wearing a button down. Letting it lose, tucking it in, semi tuck (tucking in only the front), pair with jeans (as shown above), pair with a skirt, pair with a blazer and my favorite layering (as shown above). You see button Downs are versatile in a way that they can be worn in many different ways, making them the best collared shirt girls mostly love.

Black Pumps

Black  pumps. Are they basic? Kind of. But, are they necessary? Yes! Most people don’t really want to spend a chunk of their clothing budget on a “boring” shoe like the black pump, but it’s a building block in your wardrobe. Its one shoe that is common amongst all woman. This classic piece of footwear is a classic for a reason – it magically brings together your entire outfit. But are you sure you are utilizing them well enough? A lot of you may not have tried this, but it’s a must-do. Do you know how easy it is to take your casual jeans and tee look one level up with your basic black pumps? The next time you feel like dressing down to a brunch, slip on your black pumps with your denims to add that dash of class.

It may be a cliché, but it is true to say that every woman needs a little black dress. Timeless, versatile and flattering for all body shapes, an LBD is a wardrobe essential that is practical and can be worn for almost any occasion. The little black dress will never go out of style. It’s been popular for almost a century, and worn by idols as far back as Coco Chanel and as recent as Beyonce. It doesn’t matter who you are, though the magic of the little black dress is its ability to make everyone glamorous. Choose the cut that’s most flattering for you, and everything else is a matter of attitude or accessory.

A Leather Jacket

Leather jackets: a staple item in every woman’s closet that never goes out of style.

I love a good leather jacket! It’s the perfect statement piece to take a casual outfit up a notch. In these photos you will see a few looks that i styled with the same leather jacket from Elouquii. Leather jackets can be worn in a similar fashion to a cardigan. Layer over a dress or skirt when it’s chilly outside to add some warmth, as well as detail and softness to the outfit. This outfit can be professional enough to wear to work or a meeting, while allowing you to stand out!

If your style really isn’t very girly, embrace the coolness of a leather jacket. Go all in by pairing your black jacket with your favorite blue or black jeans and shoes as well. Add a little bit of dimension by wearing a neutral basic shirt under the jacket. This outfit will give off a “don’t mess with me” vibe and give you the confidence to take charge of your day!
